1. About MinervaSpring
MinervaSpring is a multi-subject educational learning platform designed for children, committed to protecting the privacy of all users — especially children.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign in via Google, we receive your Google profile name and email.
Child Profile Information
Parents create child learner profiles that include a display name, chosen avatar, and difficulty level. We do not collect children's real names, dates of birth, photographs, or precise ages. Difficulty levels are described as learning stages (Foundation, Developing, Secure, Greater Depth, Mastery) rather than age brackets.
Learning Activity Data
We record which activities a child completes, their scores, and adaptive difficulty adjustments. This data is used solely to personalise the learning experience and show progress to parents.
Technical Data
We collect standard technical data such as device type, browser type, and anonymised usage analytics (via Google Analytics) to improve the platform.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalise the educational experience
- To track learning progress and show reports to parents
- To recommend activities based on progress and difficulty (see our Transparency page)
- To process premium payments securely via Stripe
- To improve platform quality and fix issues
- To send essential account communications
We do not use children's data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
4. Data Sharing
We share data only with:
- Stripe — to process payments (adults only; no child data is shared)
- Google Analytics — anonymised usage statistics
- Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in via Google
- Hosting providers — for infrastructure (data processed under strict agreements)
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to any third party.
5. Children's Privacy
MinervaSpring is designed for use by children under parental supervision. The platform complies with applicable children's privacy laws including the UK Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code) and GDPR, and is built with COPPA and DSA principles in mind.
- Children do not create their own accounts — parents manage all profiles
- We do not collect more information from children than is necessary
- We do not serve behavioural advertising to children
- We do not build advertising or marketing profiles of minors
- Parents can view, modify, or delete their child's data at any time from the Parent Dashboard
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain account and learning data for as long as your account is active. When you delete a child profile, their learning data is permanently removed. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Visit our Delete your account & data page for step-by-step instructions, or email [email protected] if you can't sign in.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and secure session management. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and card details are never stored.
